  1. The first problem was made by Sam Loyd, 1877. I'm a big fan of his works :)Edit: Second problem was also by Loyd.

  4. For the first puzzle I was tempted to try having the black king escape further out to f3, but the rook and bishop do a good job of blocking everything except for the center diagonal which the a pawn can simply cover by promoting to a bishop

  5. First Puzzle: bxa8=N, Kxg2, Nb6, any black legal move, a8=Q# or a8=B#.

    Second Puzzle: d4, if Kg4, e4+, Kh4, g3#, if Kh5, Qd3, Kg4 or Kh4, Qh3#.

  6. Did I miss the part where we were told whose move it is in the first puzzle?
