The tactics on chess.com are useful and helpful, they also aren't 100% puzzles, they make them in such a way that are easy to make applicable to your own games, Thanks, I really liked the video, Jerry!
Conclusion: I often overlook variations. Perhaps I can't visualize the board clear enough after a number of moves. 1. saw the queen check, but thought that bishop takes queen will be forced, therefore overlooked the knight check 2. saw the combination f5, Kxf5, e6, but overlooked g5 response (luckily g5 will be met by e6 anyway) 3. found it
Have u ever thought about uploading the 2 minnute gameplay u had against Hutch? I know hutch's skill doesn't quite compare to yours, but maybe just point out the mistakes he made? also, I think a lot of people who enjoy both hutch's and your channel would enjoy that as well. just a thought. I enjoyed this video BTW. 🙂
for the first one… why can't we capture the pawn using the knight.. possibly moving the white queen from its place, where it is attacking e6.. and then following up with checks with black queen and bishop…?!
Hey great video jerry! I was chasing you in that cube fanatics 140! I got paired up with john madden so go figure. Can anyone post a link to hutch's channel? Thanks
I didn't get any of them, but expected that, since I'm getting back into chess for the first time in decades.
Thank you for making this type of video, where you explain your thinking process. It helps me get a better understanding of what I need to look for when I look at my move options..
Hey Jerry – this was an awesome video!! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts while working tactics trainer. I've been using it for about 4 years now and it's helped me get from below 1200 to almost class A, and I definitely think it's useful (and even entertaining and interesting).
At 6:43, black should have played Qd4 to threaten your queen and stop you from advancing your pawns. It is very difficult to figure out the continuations ahead of time to these things if black plays stupidly. White is dominating right at the beginning of the 2nd puzzle regardless. These best continuation type puzzles you need to do 1 move at a time. I am enjoying these puzzle videos, please make more =)
that Nf3 move on the third puzzle is quite juicy., however when I look back on it., that pushing pawn can easily be countered by the rook.,., so yeah.,., white wins….
I actually don't pause the videos so as to let me incorporate more of your thinking process into my own as I am an advocate of a strong process has a much larger impact than some practice ever could.
I do pretty well with puzzles for my level, but when i'm at chess lessons, my teacher always gives a few puzzles to start off. For some reason my brain has a complete meltdown and just makes stupid mistakes >.<
Good stuff, Jerry!
bro, your calculation is very slow … geezz whats your rating ?
These always put a smile on my face once I get that "Ahh, I see moment!" Keep up the good work, Jerry!
This is my new favourite kind of your videos. Id love if there was more than 4 episodes.

What is Jerry's chess rating? As i understand, there are multiple types of rating but if he is 2514 shouldn't he be a GM or at least IM?
I feel like black could do better chasing the king with rook G3 and then using knight in 3rd problem.

Solid.
Love it!

Please keep doing more of these, Jerry!
This is a great format! Hearing how strong players calculate is hugely beneficial, and often lacking in other chess videos.
Hope that I will see more of vids like this!!
I do 20 puzzles daily with a rating 1600-1700.
This is really helping me!
What if in first one knight takes pawn then after queen taken Qe6 check with mate threat on e2? I can see no variaton without mate/loosing a rook
I have done more than 2K puzzles, but i've never had that timer at the bottom. Is it only for premium members?

In the last puzzle why can't black simply continue with Nf3 forking the king and the bishop? White's going to win anyway but it's not as clear.
All I can do is grow because of you friend.
In the last position of the 3rd game a knight fork wins the bishop right?
great video , i actually learn much by you talking about your thought process
Question, on the third puzzle couldn't the black king capture the brook
What about 1. f5 Qd4 in the second puzzle? I don't see a way for white to win even if queens are exchanged.
In the first puzzle, Qf6 also works doesn't it?
I haven't seen any significant improvement in my games after solving a few thousands of these problems but it is possible that they help a little.

pawn push, ohh hang on! 😀

What do you do for a living jerry? are you in the numbers business?
8:16 queen in officially scared… haha
1st puzzle has mate in three 😐
Most strong player do not share their thought but this guy is awesome.
I always remember you brother. ChessNetwork
thanks
In the last puzzle, there's a knight fork at the end, which would capture the bishop.
These are great, thanks for sharing your though process Jerry!!!
I was just about to comment on how the King could capture on f5! Lol

after f5, what about Qd4!? that was the move I was actually worried about
this helped me a lot
thank you
