Jerry, in the last puzzle I saw Rc7, threatening Rc8#. The only defence I saw was Qe8, then there's Rxg7; and if bxc6 then Rb8+ Qxb8 Nxb8 Kxb8 and white is up the exchange and a few pawns, but I'll agree that your solution is stronger! 😛
second puzzle, after Qxf6 Qxe4, why exf7+ isnt good? ofc Rxf7 Qxf7+ is the same, but after Kh8 there is Qd6 and i dont see how black can avoid the mate on f8 and save the queen also.
3/5 last two were hard and i give myself only 4 minutes too match a match situation i should have found the queen check in number 4 though lazyness but that rook move was something learnt getting better at those dam silent moves
Puzzle 1: Solved (1)
Puzzle 2: did not consider or even saw the counter sacrifice… (1/2)
Puzzle 3: As simple as it looked I was searching for something bigger and overlooked the simplicity of the puzzle XD (0)
Puzzle 4: had the right idea up to queen check, but didn't calculate all the way through (1/2)
Puzzle 5: Couldn't solve, puzzles with quiet moves always get me. (0)
What about N g6 on puzzle 4?

3rd puzzle..is it the one karpov fell victim to?
For #2,rook g4 does also work, pinning the pawn on g7 and attacking the queen
huh those were kinda tough 😀 at least got 3 right…
Thanks for your great job, we are learning so much.. Best regards from panama city!!!
5/5 🙂 fun puzzles for sure.
thanks Jerry.
4/5! ^.ô)
Awesome puzzles, couldn't figure one of them out :
Why am I so terrible at these!!
Only 1/5, these are difficult and I don't have the patience
Do these puzzles have just one solution each? Because if they do, well……..yeah…. i definitely got them all wrong.
Example 4 was fantastic!
3 of 5… starting to get the hang of looking before springer-ing….
Thanks for putting these together Jerry!
Great to hear, and hello Panama City! 🙂
3/5. Last two were the ones I didn't put as much effort on.
It gave me a heartburn but i solved it all -.-
why never black to play and win , why so much white bias ?
Jerry, do you play any correspondence chess?
For #1, couldn't you have bh7 as well? If K takes, rh6, if queen takes, pin and kill it and be up huge material.
No
1) Bxh7?, Rxg5 -+

Total 2 points out of 5.
Nah, if you use the bishop to block Ra7 for mate
I like it better when you do live tactical puzzles, allowing us to see your thought processes.
Puzzle 3 is a slight alteration of the famous Christansen-Karpov 12 move game.
Nice explanations. Yes…the quiet moves are quite difficult to calculate.
LOL….correspondence chess :)) That would be Jerry's personal hell ÿuckyuck
I was super baked during this and hadn't slept the night before. I didn't get a single one and then I dozed off during the 4th-5th one sorry :p
damned, those silent moves always…
Exactly. Good eye 🙂
