  1. It seems to me that the defense …bxc6 makes the later Nxb8 move rather tricky to execute.

  2. yes, you missed 1.Rg4 Qxe6 !! 2.Qxf6 Qxf6, and black wins

  3. OK, extra credit question for you. Your defense is 1.Rexb7 Nxb7 2.Rb6 Bd4 3.Rxa6+ Ba7 and you have stopped checkmate. What does White play now?

  4. Still waiting to get one of these! Keep 'em coming!

  5. After 1 and 5 i was like Wow. Got 2,3,4 correct.

  6. Im really bad at finding those quiet moves… I got 3/5 this time

  7. Can someone show me why at 3:51 Na7 isn't a good move as well? I hate the way I play it's very risky, but that would've been my move, because if king takes Na7 then there's an immediate mating sequence with the rooks and if not I have a huge advantage being able to take b7 and protect it. However, I fear as with many of my clever ideas like that, there is some pitfall. What can black do to ruin my day if I play Na7. I like to know what I'm doing wrong in those situations.

  8. Nice puzzles! I tried to solve them all, but only succeeded in 2 and 4. 5 was in my view the hardest one.
Really cool, keep them coming! 🙂

    Greetings from Ghent, Belgium

  9. In the 2nd eXf+ If R-f7 then W R-e8+ and white wins the queen. If B K-f7 then again check with the R from e4. This seems simpler, (so I've probably missed something.)

  10. the subscription tune is kind of catchy. nice add on

  11. Jerry, do you do this all yourself? From the finding of all these puzzles, to the incredibly catchy music at the end, I feel like no single man can accomplish all this. Best decision ever to subscribe to Chessnetwork,

  12. I didn't get all of 1. I feel like the only one who didn't. Oh well. 🙁
I didn't get the countersac at #2, but got it and the continuation immediately as soon as you sad there was one, before you pointed out what it was. I did pause the video just to make sure, though. 🙂
I didn't get #3 at all, but totally slapped myself after you said the solution.
I got everything except for the under-promotion on the 4th one. 🙁
    I didn't get ANY of #5

So, basically, 5/5, new GM here.

  13. I only got #1. #4 was great! #5 just blew my mind.

  14. i only got 1. but i said rg4 on the last one and it seems to be winning too.. prove me wrong, somebody.

  15. Any idea if Chessnetwork is him on ICC? If it is, I would've thought he'd capitalize the N…

  16. i did not see that pawn in the queen's penumbra. this is embarrassing

  17. I solved the first 4 puzzles. The 5th one was really hard, but i didnt give up around 5 minutes ..i think i found second solutoin …Rook f4 with idea Rook f-f7 for threating mate. Black must sacrafice the queen and it is rook vs knight and bishop i think it is winning for white.

  18. 3/5 on this and the next one… i think i got only 2/5 on chess puzzles # 10, always great puzzles by jerry along with very clear explanations… definitely my favorite chess related channel and probly in the top 3, maybe top 5 of all youtube channels… keep em comin jerry! LOVE IT!

  19. yeah, i tried taking with the wrong rook… I only wish there was an explanation of why that doesnt work… oh well, awesome vid as always.

  20. Got most of them right and was near on those i didn't. Missed the counter sac in puzzle 2 (but I did see which reply was needed once I realized it was possible) and in puzzle 4 I went for the queen check first and missed the initial rook sac, but I realized what continuation you had in mind as soon as saw the rook move. Sneaky knights! Better late than never I guess… 🙂

  21. Poorly. I will repeat until they are easy. Sadly, it's harder to learn than it was 50 years ago

  22. You mean playing the same idea with the other rook with R(b)xb7 Nxb7 and now Rc7 threatening the same mate on c8 instead of a6?
Simply because while a6 is out of rach from black's pieces, c8 is simple to defend : Qg4 and there's no more mate

  23. Yup, couldn't handle the last one either. Got lazy too in the end

  24. Puzzle 5 is a kasparov game, isn't it? Please Jerry, more classical games commentaries!!!!!!!

  25. on the second puzzle, how about rg4? the bishop attacks queen, so if nxr, bxq. if q moves, then qxn leads to mate in 1. i'm not very good, but why does that not work, or does it?

  26. OK! In second puzzle pown takes ef+ Kh8( otherwise black lost the queen by discover checks by the rook) Re8 (attak the queen and dounting check mate on f8 black cant avoid that if only sacriface the queen).

  27. Well…2/5, I'll take it. Beggars can't be choosers…

  28. if #5 weren't posted as a puzzle, who'd a thunk there was a win there? good one!.
